Redefining NYSL Conferences

Since its inception, the Nebraska Youth Soccer League (NYSL) has continued to grow in the number of participating teams and clubs, in geographic reach, in the range of team abilities, and through partnerships with organizations and programs such as FairWhistle and the Nebraska Training League. In light of this growth, we recognize the importance of evolving operationally to better serve our community. 

To that end, we are implementing several key changes including reorganizing staffing roles and duties to better fit our current and future needs and restructuring our league into three new conferences: Premier Conference, Developmental Conference and 7v7 Conference. 

This new conference structure allows the league to adapt policies and operations to fit the specific needs of those participating. While Troy Brown will continue to oversee the league as NYSL Director, we are adding dedicated Conference Managers to allow more consistent and focused communication to our members. This change will allow each conference to receive increased attention, support, and responsiveness to help us continue to grow and promote the game of soccer. 

Premier Conference (formerly Blue Conference) will remain running as usual but will have simplified Club Pass rules within the conference. Premier Conference is for Level 1 and 2 teams who typically have a very set roster throughout the year, and are often competing in events like Presidents Cup, Junior Cup and State Cup. Jason Francois will act as Premier Conference Manager.  

Developmental Conference (formerly Red Conference) will see some more flexibility to meet the demands of finding coaches and filling rosters for our more recreational level teams.  Streamlined policies will allow for easier player movement ensuring more kids have the opportunity to get on the field and enjoy the game. 

Similarly, the 7v7 Conference will have updated, simplified rules for older teams playing small-sided matches. This Conference has been successful the last several seasons to allow players to continue playing soccer when a full roster may not be possible for their club or team. Sydney Coghlan will act as Developmental and 7v7 Conference Manager.  

With over one thousand teams participating in the Nebraska Youth Soccer League every year, we are committed to continue to grow and adjust alongside the needs and goals of our members to create a soccer environment that benefits all players to continue playing the game.
